This is a 5x7 hooking that I am finishing for Christmas.
I started this in a Miniature workshop that my friend Barb Leduc here in Moncton, NB

I made a few changes as you see with adding more saturated colors and no leaves. This is a lot of fun and you can surprisingly get a lot of detail such a small space.

Hi gang, I thought I would let you know that I..moi..am teaching my first 2 day workshop in Fredericton NB my Wooly Mason Jar Color Wheel dye system.
Moose River Rug Hooking Studio in Nova Scotia has already had 2 full workshops and had to have a 3rd "Back by popular demand" class in December. My friend Barb Leduc has been teaching and selling for me but will be leaving for Florida for the winter soon so I have to do it myself.
I am leaving soon and am scared to death...my knees are shaking but since this is my invention I know everything about it.
Teacher love the system as a teaching tool as it is so easy.
I would have let you all know sooner but I didn't want to jinx myself. Wish me luck.

Needle felting a hummingbird

I started this little needle feltiing this morning at hooking. The inspiration was a beautiful card the girls had given me after a dye demo. It just so happened the perfect little piece of wools with all the leftover dyes made a perfect backing for it.
Needle felting is so much fun and fast. I will decide whether to felt or proddy the flowers once the mood hits me.

Well I decided to applique some flowers with beads.

Here is my sisters cat done and ready to mount on the pillow. It is Christmas Eve and we are leaving for church so this is as far as I will go on it.

The whiskers are made of quilting thread. She turned out pretty good.

Gord and I are soooooo proud of our oldest daughter Stacy.
Along with her diploma she received The Excellence/Outstanding Acheivement Award in Physical/Occupational Therapy Asst.
Stacy has accepted a permanent position at the Moncton Hospital!!
Now she move out of my basement....and I will have my sewing room back, lol.

Cat from Scarf?

I realized that I had to mirror image the cat so it can be in the proper corner of the couch.
I am now using the values that I have dyes and almost have most of the face done. The body will go easier and them to the background.
My sisters couch is a primitive gold color so I am thinking that I will put a nice primitive dark red background behind the grey cat.....that is what I am thinking right now but that can change at any thought.

I decided to make my sister a memory rughooked pillow of her cat Angelica who went over the rainbow a year or so ago. Annette says sometimes she thinks she still hears her in the house. This pillow will sit in the same spot that Angelica sat for 12 years and will be a nice reminder and surprise.

I don't have to worry about her reading my blog as she has no interest in rughooking or what I do, lol.
Anyway I started with a recycled scarf and thought I would like to do the whole cat with it but due to the amount of wasted color I will not have enough so I am starting over with some values that I dyed using my Easy Wooly Mason Jar Color Wheel swatch recipe cards.

I think this will be much easier for me!

Hello Everyone, I keep trying to post and get errors so heres hoping.

Last week I brought my Mom to a beautiful little Private Nursing/Special Care home and she is settled in a seems to be happy. I have sorted though her life of possesions and closed up her appartment and am now able to have time to myself again.

I haven't been able to keep up here but will try to catch up and participate again.

I will try to submit some photos of projects that I have been doing to pass time.

Vicki was a fantastic teacher! We learned alot and had so much fun!
We started with a blank piece of wool and Vicki gave us artistic freedom to pick our own wools and design as we went

A few days later and I have finished up the color wheel cards to try our. Very labor intensive to make these but I put alot of thought into it. The only thing I worry about is the swatches falling off the cards. I used double sided carpet tape but don't feel confident that they will stay on.

I wanted the cards to be able to fit next to one another nicely so that it would be eay to see if you like the colors next to one another and for shipping they would lay flat. I may be nuts trying to get these marketable but what the heck! We will see.

Lucy's Color Personal Color Wheel and Palette

Here are some photos of my color wheel and personal pallette. I love blotchy mottled wool so I did not stir much to get this effect.
These colors are all derived from my choice of red, yellow and blue along with one other mother color, in my case I used a dark brown.
This "mother color" ties all your colors together in one big family.
I prepared 8 values of each primary, then secondary, the tertiary.

From those I made 2 tones (adding grey) and 2 shades (adding black) of each #4 value. As seen below.
I will continue to make my neutral browns and my black this week.

Now that I have my personal pallete I am numbering and taging each piece so that I may reproduce any color I need when I want.
I am organizing my swatches onto a card file system.
I thought of doing this with only my primary 4 ProChem dyes, 2 Jacquard and 2 Cushings to fit my budget and for dying I used the inexpensive dash, pinch and smidgen spoons.
Now that the initial work and wool investment is done I have the formulas and can help other budget minded hookers perhaps by selling some of the swatch cards/formulas etc to recoop some of my money.

I finished this mat at the Hook In in Sackville NB on Saturday. I am so pleased with the result.

Legend has it if the ravens leave the Tower of London the kingdon will crumble.

At least six Ravens are kept at the Tower, at all times, in accordance with the belief that if they be absent the kingdom will fall.To be on the safe side ten ravens (6 on duty and 4 young spares) are actually housed at the Tower of London at the expense of the British government.

This is where I am stopping. I hope it all fits together well enough. I hooked inside the line so it should. I sculpted the tail a bit so it is pretty fluffy. This was a hard project for me but glad I participated. I hope they like it.

Big Honkin Rug

This is the main section of my BHR rug online challenge which I should have had done by January 1, 2009 but as usual I am late. Now I have to figure out the borders.

This is the cabin we used to have on the Miramichi River and when I designed the mat I decided to use linen instead of my favorite burlap and was feeling something missing when drawing it on the linen. I have a spiritual connection with my grand-mere ( in heaven) who hooked on burlap and I was not getting that warm feeling so I hooked her on the deck with me.
If you look close in the sky I have 2 fish and a rug hook in the clouds, lol....I love having fun with my hooking.

I have decided to put log cabin quilt blocks in each corner and not exactly sure for the rest.

This is my design for a monochromatic workshop with Barb Leduc.
I have always been intrigued by this legend and ravens so I combined the two for the workshop.

Legend has it the Tower of London will collapse and the kingdom will fall if all the ravens leave.

I dyed my values myself and I am not a dyer so I started with 8 vaued and never got any lights so I continued until I had 12 values. The 3 darkest were almost the same. Now I finished with about 3 strips left so I tried to dye more, ha! I apperently made a mistake in the first batch so I got purple and pinks, oh, oh I am in trouble. Anyway I think I have enough dark stuff overdyed to make a dark border but maybe I would put any border.

Okay, this is as good as it will get! Wool is all frayed an so are me noyves!! Every time I try to edit I make it worse so now to do his bum, (I feel like kicking it by now)!! Now I know how the dog feel with these frustrating little creatures, lol!

Sadie and I on the water

My little corgi mix Sadie looks like she loves the water but in truth she does not like to get her belly wet and when your legs are only about 6 inches long that is not very deep,lol.
When I would kayak Sadie would cry and follow me down the bank and even try to swim out to me she was so worried about me so now I put her between my legs and she is happy. My daughter Katie says we both have the same expression on our faces.
Sadie is so cute and such a good little dog.

Carmella Leblanc my email/advice buddy and go between for Pat (who has no computer) and I . Carmella is the leader of the Bouctouche NB group and is so creative and organized. She makes hooking fun.
Carmella has chosen the lighthouse as well and has done a fantastic job with those warm colors, beautiful girl!

June who also hooks with the Buctouche group is also doing a cabin scene, if you look close you will see a Canada goose coming in for a landing in the pond. This will be gorgeous when done.June is our inventor in the group and always comes up with the neatest ideas!

Debbie Lessard hooks out of Moncton as well and is an amazing hooker! I can't wait to see this one done. I learned alot from Debbie this week. I will post a photo of her unbelievable miniatures later.

Shirley who hooks out of the Buctouche Group is also doing a cabin scene. Shirley has added a woodpile with axe and a sculpted snowman to make you smile and want to reach out and touch him, just beautiful!

Judy Boudreau also hooks out of the Moncton firehall.
You should see this in person it will be amazing!! I can smell the hydrangeas!

Ann Franklin from the Moncton group, has chosen the tulip and has it looking fantastic. We learned along with Ann that simple does not mean easy.

Joyce LeMoine hooks with the Northport NS Group and is doing the log cabin scene as well. You will not find a loop out of place in her work, just beautiful!Joyce claims to have a computer but no one has ever gotten an email, we figure she hasn't found the on button yet! lol..

Pat from the RichibuctoNB hooking group is doing a lighthouse scene and it is looking lovely.
Pat is cute as a button and often my roommate on rug hooking courses, Pat is so funny and doesn't even know it. Luv ya pat!

Carolyn from the Moncton group chose a picture of Hawaii and I can't wait to see this piece done although Sharon did have to remind Carolyn to stop talking and hook. Carolyn is working on multitasking, lol.

Sharon Harrison (our fearless leader) from the Moncton group is displaying her lovely piece a Log cabin winter scene. I love Sharon's sense of humor, it is kind of sick like mine, lol..

Here are some photos from the Monochromatic Workshop with Barb LeDuc I just finished.
I met the most wonderful bunch of ladies and had a hoot. The teacher was fabulous! If you ever get a chance to take a course with Barb you will not be disappointed.
The course was given by the firehall hookers in Moncton and we had a lovely room, very friendly atmosphere, great snacks and overall I had a great time.
Monochromatic looks easy but really isn't unless you have a good teacher, once you get the guidelines down it is not so bad and oh so neat when done. Enough blabbing and more pictures right so here goes.
